itle pretty much explains the gist.

I have been playing MP with mostly friends, and it takes forever to load into the game (up to 10 mins sometimes). I often drop, and we have to restart. Even when I do load in, it takes so long I often get in-game 30 seconds to a minute after my friends–obviously this can create some problems for my early game momentum as my PC races to catch up and my units stand around doing nothing for up to two minutes at times.

Usually I begin to constantly drop after about three to four games in. We recently started playing Wikinger mod with a bunch of new maps, and since then the rates at which I’ve been dropping and the loading time has increased greatly (I have already posted in COH2 general forums as well).

I have a pretty bad PC, which I am sure factors in. I’m playing on a 2010 Alienware, shitty CPU, with a GTX 470 graphics card. I have noticed that the more detailed maps, larger maps, and the increased detail/functionality of Wikinger itself, tend to force me out of the game. I know this probably has something to do with the state of my PC, but I have no way of upgrading it anytime soon. Graphics are also on lowest settings. Any advice for a quickfix to this problem until I can fix/get a new desktop? I don’t mind the loading time and the late start I get in-game so much, even though it is a thorn in my side. Looking for reasons I keep dropping//how to fix actually dropping from the game mainly.

Let me note that the game never actually crashes–I always just load in a bit too late and drop. But I can still play around on the map (with AI replacing my friends) leading me to believe maybe the perma-load makes the game think I have lost connection.

      Help would be appreciated

      Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using our low zoom settings?

      Hi Blitzkrieg 428:

Yes, Wikinger mod Stress a lot CPU and GPU. There is a lot of factors about that.

      1. High camera angle
      2. Improved AI
      3. Much more units & abilitites

If you use custom maps will add more extra elements to overload your hardware. Then what I recomend:

      1. Lower your graphic settings
      2. Use “Wikinger” low camera angle
      3. Use vanilla maps
      4. Try to play more vs Players.

We are trying to find a solution for low end PCs with my team.

      Regards, Olhausen

Dear Blitz What Are you Computers Spec’s As We speak i can look for an optimal Settings for you Rig,

EDIT: So i readed ur using a GTX 470 I do have to say this card will have issues with running MOST big maps, this is not a Wikinger problem i used my Crappy Laptop, what has an build in AMD R5 and i loaded in within 3 min and those specs are Really Crappy with 3GB ram only,

This is no disrespect but i think your PC in general might be to week For COH2 To run it “Properly”, What i can Recommand is everything on Medium Low zoom Wikinger,

And try Again this is game related Playing against player might Help also Alot, Because AI is pretty CPU intensive,

      With sincere regards Sean

      Thanks guys appreciate it much.

My pc is definitely weak for running coh very aware haha.  Planning to tweak it up when i get the money.

In the meantime though we are gonna try vanilla maps.  Problem is regarding AI we have difficulty scheduling.  We have four people in our group but with life getting in the way and stuff we often end up playing with three and have to use an expert to balance the teams.

As for the zoom, do you guys know anyway i can modify that just for myself?  I’m usually not the one hosting and even if, I don’t want to have the other players forced to lower zoom in the lobby just because of me lol.  Otherwise I’ve talked with them and they’re willing to do it though it would be kind of annoying for them.

Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it.

Hi… I am not 100% sure, but if you zoom in manually it should work also. Maybe try that.

Whatever you try, it would be very nice to have some feedback as other players might have similar problems.

Hey guys just giving you an update:

Put graphics to utmost lowest settings (apparently i still had some detailed oriented settings turned on) and someone in the regukar COH2 forum suggested lowering sound quality, so i did that too.  We played with three players and two AI yesterday and every game loaded up just fine, even custom maps, and didn’t load in late.  Didn’t even have to lower zoom.  Definitely a CPU issue lol.

Wanna thank you guys for your help.  In the future I’ll play around with the zoom options to see if i can bump up the graphics (kind of a graphics whore myself so its a hard choice for me haha) but all seems to function well.

Sean I’ll be sure to add you on steam anyway.  Alternative options are still welcome if you have any :p

      Once again thanks.

      Blitz.
